Gas line inspection & repair

Gas line safety with military precision. Because leaks should not exist.

Too many Snohomish County homes have undersized or poorly installed gas lines from shady contractors. Don’t be left with weak appliance performance—or dangerous leaks in your walls.
WHAT CAN HAPPEN?

Carbon monoxide exposure, fire hazards, or system failures are often the result of loose fittings or bad installations. Headaches, dizziness, nausea and fatigue are real signs of trouble—especially if they improve when you leave the house. And propane systems are more unforgiving in enclosed PNW crawlspaces.

WHAT YOU NEED

Zero compromises. You get a licensed professional who pressure-tests your entire gas line system, from your meter to your cooktop. For installations and repairs, we only use black iron pipe with MegaPress fittings—known for lifetime seals. Shortcuts are unacceptable near any kind of flame, or your family’s health.

CUSTOMER STORY

Everett family breathes easier after complete gas system overhaul

When the homeowner contacted us about problems with their gas appliances, we discovered a system that wasn't properly sized or supported.

The existing gas lines couldn’t deliver adequate volume to their appliances, resulting in poor performance and potential safety issues.

Our team completely repiped the home’s gas system, using modern (Viega) MegaPress gas fittings instead of traditional threaded connections.

MegaPress gas line fittings create permanent seals that won’t weaken over time like threaded fittings.

All gas lines were resized to ensure every appliance had proper flow, and room for more.

We also resized the entire system from the meter throughout the house, ensuring proper gas volume to every appliance while building in additional capacity for future needs.

After installation, we conducted comprehensive pressure testing to verify the system’s integrity and confirm zero leaks. The homeowner now enjoys reliable performance from all their gas appliances and the peace of mind that comes with knowing their gas system is properly installed with the highest quality materials available.

“Most people don’t realize—if your gas line isn’t sized properly, your other appliances can fail. That’s NOT something you want to learn mid-winter.”

Clues your gas line system may need immediate attention

Smell a faint “rotten egg” odor indoors or near appliances?

Hear a hissing sound behind your stove or furnace?

Gas water heater, stove, or furnace stopped working properly?

You upgraded an appliance but didn’t upsize the gas line?

Not sure when your gas lines were last inspected?

The hidden risk in your walls: Avoid CSST gas pipe

CSST (corrugated stainless steel tubing) is fast and cheap to install, but it’s no match for the strength and reliability of black iron pipe with MegaPress fittings. Over time, CSST has a higher risk of leaks and failure.

CSST is more vulnerable to punctures—from nails, screws, or even sharp debris—especially in walls and crawlspaces.

We use black iron pipe and MegaPress fittings: Seals tighter, lasts longer, and gives your home a gas system built for safe performance—not shortcuts.

Why trust your gas lines to Stars & Stripes Plumbing?

All the heat without the hazard

Safety first approach. Our technicians pressure test every system and use specialized gas sniffers to detect even the smallest leaks that might be missed by less thorough inspection methods.

Superior materials: We exclusively use black iron pipe with high-carbon steel fittings, not the flexible CSST piping that other companies install. Our materials provide maximum protection against leaks, even if the pipe is accidentally struck.

Proper-sizing expertise: We conduct thorough load calculations to ensure your gas system delivers the right volume to every appliance without starving others when demand increases.

Licensed professionals: All our gas work is performed by licensed plumbers with specialized training and years of experience working specifically with Western Washington homes.

When safety matters: Trust battlefield-level standards

For gas lines, don’t guess. We are veteran-owned and operated, and that makes all the difference for your home and family:

Discipline, precision, and zero tolerance for shortcuts. Exactly the mindset you want when dealing with flammable gas lines in your crawlspaces, connections, and pressure tests.

Long-term solutions: We don’t just fix the immediate problem—we ensure your entire gas system is up to code, properly sized, and built to last for decades without issues.

Our word is our bond. We show up on time, respect your home like it’s our own, and explain what we’re doing every step of the way. You get accountability, craftsmanship, and care—and peace of mind.

Gas line FAQs

How often should I have my gas lines inspected?

If your gas lines are over 10 years old, or you’ve recently upgraded appliances, it’s smart to get them inspected. Small leaks can go undetected but still pose serious risks.

What’s the difference between black iron and CSST piping?

Black iron is thicker, more durable, and far more resistant to punctures or fire damage. We use it exclusively for safety and longevity. CSST is cheaper—but not up to our standard.

Do gas line repairs need a permit in Snohomish County?

Yes, for most installations—especially for new appliances or system upgrades. We handle the permits so you don’t have to.

Can you work on propane systems, too?

Absolutely. Propane requires even more care due to its density and tendency to linger. We treat it with the same diligence and safety standards as natural gas.
